Tuna Ann and Wadi Ann reach Celebrity Status
LSI Tug Boat Tuna Ann and Modular Spud Barge Wadi Ann recently completed the Hatta Pump Storage Hydro Power Plant project with a class A Contractor. Tuna Ann was used to tow/assist Wadi Ann loaded with various equipment and trucks at the Charterers project site at Hatta Dam. Various pics attached which were taken during the project.
Tuna Ann was broken down into multiple parts for ease of carrying towards the site by a specialized transporting company and assembled there by LSI as the Dam is amidst mountains and with no access from the sea directly. Wadi Ann was taken to the Project site in a similar fashion but easier in terms of splitting and assembly since it’s a modular spud barge.
Hatta Dam located near the community of Hatta in the Hajar Mountains has now become an iconic site that has beautiful scenic rocky landscape routes where visitors arrive for activities such as Kayaking, etc. LSI vessels were used here for transporting various types of equipment used for the Construction of a Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant in this area. The client’s plan included the construction of an upper reservoir which is approximately 150m higher over the already existing lower reservoir and powerhouse which will be capable of generating a total net power of 250MW of clean sustainable electricity once completed.

The project was a huge success and Tuna Ann and Wadi Ann have returned to base.
We are thrilled to have worked on a project at such an iconic location which will create clean energy for Dubai.The project was also a first for LSI to work in landlocked mountain area with our vessels that are usually on the open sea or in dedicated ports.
