Drydocking of Vessels

2020 Drydocking, Technical Department

As a part of providing our clients with non-compromising service, LSI makes sure our vessels are prepped and maintained with quality standards. In the past month, 3 LSI vessels were drydocked.
– Hamriyah Ann (Docking period 03-Jun-2020 to 13-Jun-2020)
– Herring Ann (Docking period 11-May-2020 to 21-May-2020)
– Halibut Ann (Docking period 02-May-2020 to 23-May-2020)
Hamriyah Ann and Herring Ann were drydocked at Albwardy Ship repair while Halibut Ann was drydocked in-house at LSI Jetty. The maintenance included Hull scraping and cleaning to remove sea growth, high-pressure wash with fresh water, steel repairs, blasting, painting,Zinc anode and renewal of tyre fenders, etc.

Barge Hamriyah Ann after Surveyor Inspection of all barge tanks and damage marking, underwent afloat steelwork on deck plating and side shell plating. Steelwork was carried out on deck and side shell plating as well.

Similar work was carried out on Herring Ann. Being a tugboat, additional work done was the calibration of both tails shaft, rudders, propeller, and removing them out. Another important factor is to service all seawater line valves.

Halibut Ann, being drydocked in-house at LSI jetty is where the majority of our personnel were involved with Mr. Tom van Houten in charge and assisted by Mr. Muzaffar Arkate. Post taking the UTM gauging report of the complete hull and cleaning, the complete forward fender assembly was renewed. All engines were pressure tested to check for leaks and repair. Rudder shaft and the starboard propeller shaft required renewal when checked and the rudder blades were pressure tested as well. Steering hydraulic cylinders were overhauled along with cleaning and painting of the steering compartment.

The final works are similar for all drydocking. NDT was carried out on welding joints and all zinc anodes renewed. After washing and painting of the full hull, antifouling coats were applied on the side and bottom.
All vessels were successfully launched immediately after drydocking.
Well done to the Technical Department and all involved !
